O’Regan’s Bar

Pier Road,Schull, Co. Cork

O’Regan’s is a traditional, Irish pub leading from the main street in Schull, down to the village pier. Step through the old, front doors into a place as full of character as it is of characters! O’Regans’s has been in the same family since the 1920’s and is run today by William Coughlan, who arrived to operate the establishment in 2015. It has an Olde Worlde look and feel with its dark wood beams, stone walls and original furnishings; surrounded with historical images of times gone by. You might even catch a Trad session now and again.

History of O'Regan's Bar

O’Regan’s is a place you come to mix
with the locals and the ‘blow-ins’; be they holiday home owners, the sailing
crew, tourists or ‘new’ locals. Here you can sit, drink and have a leisurely
chat surrounded by the walls of photos depicting the O’Regan family and local
villagers, throughout the generations. Set in very old, traditional, wooden
frames there are images of The Hazelside boat sinking and the survivors brought
back here to Schull; 1939. There’s also a great photo of the professional wrestler
‘The Irish Whip’, Danno O’Maohny as well as a beautiful old map depicting
Valentia to Cork.

The pub was originally a multi-purpose
venue, as they were back in the day, and was run as hotel-pub-shop catering for
travelling sales men and the local villagers – the shop is only gone the last
20 years.

O’Regan’s is definitely a stop not to
be missed for that olde worlde charm and hospitality.
